The University of North Carolina atChapel Hill Photographic Laboratory served the University community for almost halfa century, from 1946 to 1990. The Laboratory processed (developed) film for Universityphotographers and served as the image reproduction center for University offices,schools, departments, staff, and student activities. Thousands of the images in thiscollection appeared in a variety of University-related publications (including the and ) in addition tobeing used in official materials created to provide information about differentdepartments, schools, and departments on campus. The Photographic Laboratory ceased operations in1990.
